The Data Browser is a web application for searching and downloading DICOM datasets acquired at CFMM.
Users should log in with their Western credentials. External users can consult the Authentication page for information on managing their accounts.
The DICOM information model involves the concepts of Patients and Studies. At CFMM, Studies (i.e. individual MR exams) are further organized by Principal and Project. See Study organization for details.
Datasets can be filtered by various parameters, most commonly by Study Date and Time and/or Study Description. Note that for each DICOM Dataset, the Study Description consists of the Principal and Project names. e.g. Menon^MS
for the MS
Project of the Menon
Principal.
To perform the search, click the Submit button. In addition, you can also get a Count of the number of studies that'll show up in results, and their total (un-compressed) Size.
A range of study dates can be selected. Several shortcuts are available, e.g. Today.
Study Description can be entered in full (Principal^Project
), or a wildcard can be used to search for e.g. all studies under all Projects of a Principal (Principal^*
).
Number of results per page is controlled by the Limit filter (default is 20). You can scroll through pages using the arrow buttons on the left and right side of the results table.
Only DICOM studies to which the logged-in user has read access will show up in search results. See Data Access Management for details.
To download a single DICOM study (or a single series), click the "Download" (down arrow) icon on the right side of the results row.
You can also use the checkboxes on the left side of the results row to select multiple studies and/or series. To download your selection, click the green Download (down arrow) icon to the right of the results table.
Non-image data is uploaded to the DICOM server as an Encapsulated Document. To download the contents of these DICOM files directly, select "View DICOM Object" from the Instance-level menu:
You can also unwrap the DICOM files directly using the command-line tool in the DicomRaw project.
If a study has been uploaded with incorrect patient information, it can be moved to a different patient in the Data Browser.
If the new patient does not exist in the archive, it has to be created first. The "Issuer of Patient ID" field is specific to the Project, and should be copied from an existing patient from the same Project:
The study is "moved" to a new patient by first selecting it on the Study tab and marking it for move. Then, switch to the Patient tab and query for the new patient, and "Start the process of moving".
